celebration of Urell Lutz’s birthday.

Journey – St. Matthew’s ministry to and with college and grad-school aged young adults will gather tonight at 7:00 pm.

XYZ Rolling Bowlers will meet tomorrow, Monday, April 19, at 1:30pm at Ashley Lanes. All Adults 55 and over are invited. Bring a friend!

Volunteers are needed for the Thrivent for Lutherans Habitat House for each Saturday in April. Please contact Pastor Dick Campbell to sign up and to receive contact information.

Operation Inasmuch Work Day: Saturday, April 24th. St. Matthew’s will be sponsoring several projects on “hands on” ministry, including providing breakfast for families with children hospitalized at MUSC, helping build a Habitat for Humanity house, preparing for Afternoon Tea at the Outreach Center and baking cookies and delivering them to local fire departments. Look for the “Operation Inasmuch” table between worship services in April. You can also contact Sarah Fitch.

Afternoon Tea at St. Matthew’s Boutique are being accepted now. All proceeds benefit the excellent programs of the Outreach Learning Center. Contact Nancy Romness or or Patsy Saunders. The Lutheran Bach Choir of South Carolina under the direction of James H. Johnson, will be performing music from Johann Sebastian Bach Cantatas BWV 29, BWV 34 and BWV 104 on Sunday, April 25, at 4:00 pm, Christ Chapel, Lutheran Seminary, Columbia, SC.

    The Mother’s Lounge is available to use anytime. The Respite Care Library next to the Fellowship Room in the Education Building has a rocking chair and privacy screen. A changing table is located at the back of the stage.

    Registration for Vacation Bible School and Summer Faith Formation begins NEXT SUNDAY! The summer fun begins with the Baobab Blast Vacation Bible School All Church Opening Celebration on Sunday, June 13, 9:45AM. Activities for children (age 3 through entering 5th grade) continue June 14 – 17, 9:00 AM – Noon. On Thursday evening there is an All Church VBS Wrap 6:00 – 8:00. Be sure to get a free CD with VBS music and receive info about our mission project when you register NEXT SUNDAY! Youth (completed grades 5-12) and adults please sign up TODAY to help. VBS Leader Training (Youth & Adults) NEXT SUNDAY 12:30 -1:30PM with lunch provided for all and child care provided during meeting.     ReNew: The Green VBS
    begins Sunday, June 20, 9:45AM. We’ll spend all summer learning about the Parable of the Sower from Mark 4:1-9. Nursery will be available for infants and toddlers. There will be a Preschool class, Lower Elementary group (completed K– 2), Upper Elementary group (completed 3-4). Be sure to get a free CD with the Green VBS music when you register! As with the weekday VBS, youth who have completed Grades 5-12 are needed as helpers. We also need a team of 6 adults each Sunday so we have 2 adults for each group.     Child Protection Trainings in April.
    As a part of implementing St. Matthew’s Child Protection Policy, adult volunteers for Vacation Bible School, Faith Formation or Youth Ministry need to complete required paperwork and must also complete the Stewards of Children prevention training from Darkness to Light. Stewards of Children will be offered twice on April 19, Noon – 3:00 with lunch included or 6:00-9:00PM with dinner. For sign up and additional information, see Cindy Greenwood in the Courtyard following worship.

    CONGRATULATIONS to our 2010 Graduates!
    If you are graduating from high school, college or institute of higher learning or have graduated within the last year, please complete an information card in the Education hallway or contact the church office by May 3. Graduates will be recognized during 11:00 worship on May 16, followed by a reception in the Courtyard.
